MARUHAN Japan Bank Plc. opened for business.

MARUHAN Japan Bank marked its launch into the Cambodian market on May 22, 2008.

During an invitation-only morning event, international guests joined Cambodia’s political and business leaders for an official ribbon cutting ceremony at the new MARUHAN Japan Bank headquarters.

The visionary chairman of MARUHAN Corporation, Han Chang-Woo Ph. D, was in attendance at the ribbon cutting ceremony. His investment in Cambodia’s future has been warmly welcomed by H.E. Prime Minister Hun Sen. This was evidenced by the attendance of the Governor of the National Bank, who personally handed over MARUHAN’s Japan Bank’s operating license during the ceremony.

Other highlights of the event included a diverse range of both Cambodian and Japanese finger-foods accompanied by champagne and cocktails. During a well-received speech, Han Chang-Woo Ph. D spoke optimistically about Cambodia’s future and encouraged potential investors to contact MARUHAN Japan Bank for world-class business service and consultancy.

Later, in the evening, hundreds of VIPs gathered in the Hotel InterContinental Ballroom for a gala launch celebration. A combination of the finest entertainment and cuisine from both Cambodia and Japanese served to symbolise the strong bilateral ties between the two countries.

Speaking to reporters at the end of the evening, Han Chang-Woo Ph. D expressed great enthusiasm for the launch celebration. “MARUHAN Japan Bank could not have hoped for a more positive opening. I have always been struck by what talent and promise Cambodia possesses and the world-class evening we have enjoyed tonight has only intensified these feelings. I am extremely optimistic about the future of both Cambodia and the MARUHAN Japan Bank.”
